We serve! – ATNiS IV

Do you like tennis? Or maybe you don't know it yet, but you just want to try something new, meet people, go out. Or burn some calories, strengthen your muscles, move your body. You've heard about blind tennis, but you can't see or you see poorly, so how can you hit the ball! Don't worry, we have ways to do it. So enough excuses: grab your racket, jump into your tracksuit and check if you're not on the courts.

The Widzimy Inaczej Foundation invites people with visual impairments to participate in the fourth edition of the project "Tennis Academy for the Blind and Partially Sighted" (ATNiS IV). Here, under the watchful eye of experienced trainers, you can learn to play blind tennis, take care of your physical condition and receive a solid portion of endorphins.

Residents of the following provinces can apply to ATNiS IV: Lower Silesia, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Lublin, Łódź, Lesser Poland, Masovian, Opole, Pomeranian, Silesian, Warmia-Masurian, Greater Poland and West Pomeranian (if interested, we will also consider the possibility of organizing classes in other provinces). Participation in the project is free of charge, training will take place in the above-mentioned provinces (the exact location will depend on the participants' place of residence and the availability of coaches and courts/gymnastics halls). Adults, as well as children and youth, can participate in the classes. The project will last until March 31, 2025.

As part of the project, Academy students will be provided with:

  • blind tennis training,

  • general development classes with stretching elements (in stationary or online),

  • sports/therapeutic massages,

  • individual consultations with a selected specialist – physiotherapist, personal trainer, sports psychologist or dietitian,

  • equipment and space to play,

  • care of trainers,

  • support of assistants (volunteers) who will help, for example, with moving around the sports facility, collecting balls or getting to the court or bus stop,

  • Individual Action Plans.

Required criteria (the same in all provinces):

  • a current certificate of visual impairment (in the case of adults – significant, moderate or mild),

  • no health contraindications to participate in sports activities,

  • in the case of persons under 18 years of age, the consent of parents or legal guardians is required,

  • commitment and time necessary for regular training.

Priority in recruitment will be given to people who did not participate in the first, second and/or third edition of ATNiS. Recruitment will also be decided by the order of applications. People who do not qualify for the project will be placed on a reserve list.

To join the Academy, please complete the form available here .

The Foundation will contact people who qualify for the project to arrange the details and complete the formalities for joining the project.

Note! As a participant in the Academy, you sign the regulations that oblige you to participate in classes and consultations reliably and systematically. If you already know that you will not have enough time or motivation to participate in the project, leave room for others who would be happy to take advantage of the classes.
